Learn Observational Drawing Skills

TBA

Service Description

Age: 13-17 Level: Beginner Focus: Foundational Techniques & Observation Location: IN-PERSON TBA Duration: 2-hour studio session each week (3 total sessions) Enroll in our focused drawing program where students learn how to truly see and translate what they observe onto paper. In this 3-week studio experience, students work with a personal object of their choice such as something meaningful, familiar, or visually interesting as the starting point for developing foundational drawing skills. Rather than just copying, students are guided through the process artists actually use: breaking down what they see into simple forms, understanding structure and proportion, and building drawings through observation, analysis, and technique. Each session is structured to strengthen core skills in observational drawing, helping students move from looking at an object to understanding how to construct it visually on paper. WHAT WE LEARN: Turning a photo into a structured drawing Breaking objects into simple forms and shapes Understanding light, shadow, and depth Shading techniques for realism Building a drawing from sketch → structure → detail → finish WHO IT'S FOR: This program is designed for teens who want to: Build strong foundational drawing skills Learn how to draw from real observation Understand structure instead of guessing or tracing Improve focus, patience, and visual thinking Explore art, design, illustration, or animation pathways No prior experience needed, just curiosity and willingness to learn. OUTCOME: By the end of the program, students will complete a finished observational drawing and gain a strong understanding of how to approach drawing any object through structure, observation, and technique.
